Sweetness...

It's a girl!

My little brother and his lovely wife (Romeo and Juliet) had a little baby girl on Sunday, their first child.  We are soooo excited!  She hasn't got a name yet.  Well, she has a REAL name but not a blog name.  I have been trying to think of a name for her but not knowing if she was going to be a he or a she I just couldn't think of anything.  Now I'm thinking ladybug... bug for short... she is TINY!  But it's not up to me... her mummy blogs as well so she'll need to pick something... but my vote is for ladybug... for now.  Just look at her girliness... she's grandaughter #2 for my parents (along with their 4 grandsons) and grandaughter #4 for Juliet's parents (they are yet to find out how crazy grandsons are)

I just couldn't get over how tiny she was.  6lb 3oz (2.82kg), 48cm long... TINY.

I got to have a cuddle yesterday... she started sooking so someone had to help her.  She let out a tiny ladylike pop of gas and snuggled down to sleep again.  Even her gas is cute.

Please excuse the poor photography.  I was just using my little snappy camera which has something against producing photos that are in focus but there will be plenty of photos to come, I am positive!  I get to do a newborn photo shoot of this little bundle and her cousin (Juliet's sister's daughter) who is only a matter of weeks older.  I can't wait!  Then we'll be putting together a keepsake book for the two little sweeties with photos from the pregnancy shoot I did with their mummies... I am really looking forward to seeing the end result of this photography project!  But for now I'm just going to enjoy all the pinkness and then go and play with some Tonka trucks before I get any crazy ideas...

What you've all been waiting for...

This is the birthday post. I thought I probably should get it done before a whole month passes since their birthdays. First to answer the question on everybody's lips... So how did the Monkey cake turn out????

Well, it looks like Wolf gives it his thumbs up. *** wouldnt you know it he did his sillyness in the best shot of the lot*** I started to put a little glint in his eyes for realism but decided I wouldnt be able to stick a knife in it if I did that.

That is the on-the-bench-as-soon-as-it's-finished-in-the-middle-of-all-the-decorating-mess-get-some-photos-just-in-case-anything-happens photo. Now for the real-thing-candles-and-all photo...

Of course there wasnt a big old smudge in the corner, that is where i smudged out his real name in the photo (you didnt really think his name was dragon did you???)

Lion got the digger and chocolate crackle construction site cake again. This time with his precious Bob the Builder candle on it. We bought that for his second birthday off eBay, it survived the post (candles dont post well to North Queensland as I guess you can imagine) and he had it on his second cake and third cake and now fourth cake... for 99c I think I am doing well, he wont let Dragon use it. He did allow daddy to use it for his last birthday pie.
For their birthdays they got a whole slew of great toys. Lion got his first REAL bike. It was cousin Cheetah's bike that he had grown out of and Uncle R and Aunty J cleaned it up and put some training wheels on it. Lion LOVES it.

But when that scary unmanned scooter starts chasing you just put your head down and GO GO GO!!!

They both got John Deer farm equipment. Lion got a Digger and Dragon got a dump truck. Dragon decided to ride Lion's digger and Little Bear climbed on too. He does look rather annoyed with his new hood ornament! It's not a ride on toy, it's just so big that they can ride it.

Lion also got a jackhammer. But it's going back. What's a birthday without at least one dangerously defective toy. There will be letters to Bosch who brand it, the company that manufacturers it for Bosch, Target who sell it and product recalls who need to know that it was seriously faulty. It didnt come with batteries, so being a good mummy I chucked some in the night before when I wrapped it. We took it out and started it up and they had a bit of fun but it started making a weird noise. We tried turning it off and on again but it wouldnt turn off. And then it started making a really weird noise even in the off position... so we took the batteries out, which were REALLY hot! That really worried me. So back it goes...

They each got a sword and shield for their birthdays. Actually between the two birthdays. I couldnt deal with giving lion his and dragon knew that there was going to be one for him (he was with me when I bought them) and it seemed like I was giving a 4 day head start to the beating Dragon would receive if I let Lion have his first. They are a hit!

Dragon loves his new chair that his Great-Grandma gave him. He goes out ont he patio and just sits in it and watches Lion play. He also loves his new Bob the Builder shirt from Aunty and Uncle Wilbie and Little Wilbie. It came with a cup which he has used every day since!
If you are still with me after this long post, I thank you. It's done now, I have posted the birthdays. Actually, not quite. The first birthday post had some photos I didnt tell you about... Lion got a Wall-e toy that talks to you in gibberish. He loves it. We havent seen the movie yet but he knows about it somehow. It responds to any noises you make, it is kinda cute. Dragon got a remote control dinosaur. It's gone back too. It had crossed wires that meant it's head was doing whatever it felt like doing when you pressed the button, sometimes noise and no movement, or movement and no noise, or neither or both or weird non-dinosaur noises. There were no more when I took it back so I got a much cooler (in my opinion) little kids remote control car made by matchbox. it's great, but it sucks the life right out of the batteries!
This is how birthdays go for us. there is always something faulty or broken that needs returning.
Oh, and lion's jackhammer was replaced with a cool flashing soccerball and flashing headbands for playing soccer at night except that Lion is too scared to go anywhere dark enough to use it!

THE WEDDING

I finally have some photos to show from the weekends wedding!!! I was using mums camera so I didnt have them until today. And the one that I particularly wanted (one of the good ones of the family) didnt fit on my USB stick and I didnt think to check that it was there when I decided my cold groceries in the car probably needed to get home to the fridge and rushed out with whatever was on the stick withough checking. So here we are... The fancied up McTavish Clan!

We had these two spunky little kids running around with us all day. They looked remarkably like Lion and Dragon except they were clean and all dressed up!Lion decided just as we were leaving the house that he needed a wedding hat! Where he got that idea I have no idea but luckily Wolf had his grandad's (Lion's great-grandad) hat that happened to fit Lion. Doesn't he look so adorable???Dragon was a little pleased with the way he was lookin'. We actually borrowed a better fitting vest for Dragon in the end, it looked so much nicer than the little one pulling tight across his pudge.

And now on to the ones that the day was actually all about...

Aunty J (she's a real Aunty now YAY) looked so beautiful and her dad was very proud, I dont think he stopped smiling all day!

And here we are, what the day was all for... Mr and Mrs. I think they look pretty happy with themeselves.Uncle R is my little Bro and I have to say, he scrubbed up better than I have seen for anything else, and that is saying something because he did it without his mummy or Aunty J to make sure he looked okay before he went out. He had a white vest and tie with a black suit and shirt, Lion didn't like his suit, "I don't like it because you are supposed to have the white on the inside and the black on the outside". Obviously Uncle R didnt do as well as I thought getting dressed on his own, if you ask Lion he got his clothes on back to front.

This is just the start of the photos, I'll have more when I can get some time to edit and eventually I will have all the professional shots (handy to be friends with the photographer) and can have some real fun.

A sneak peek...

It's nearly here!!!! Uncle R and Aunty J's wedding. It seems like forever since they got engaged, actually when I think about it, it has been forever for Dragon. At their engagement dinner I was rather pregnant with a little Dragon baby and Lion wore the suit that Dragon will wear to the wedding. So tonight we had a bit of a fitting for the boys suits. Lion's was picked up earlier in the week from an op-shop for $25!!! I added a pair of dress shoes from Target marked down to $20 and here is the result...

Not bad hey??? He did think that he was top stuff!!

Although, for $25 the suit doesnt come perfect, there are a few minor things to fix... like the clasp at the waist of the pants!!!

Dragon was mighty pleased with himself too...

The skivvy will be a little warm so we are borrowing a friends dress shirt to go with it instead but he is in hospital at the moment so we are still to pick that up (please pray for him, he's better but needs IV antibiotics for almost another week, that's a long time for a 2 year old in hospital). I am quite worried about borrowing a white shirt, my children arent know for their cleanliness!!! The vest is a little small but if I dont let him eat this week he'll be fine:)

And Wolf tried on his new suit too, I happen to think they looked quite spiffy together!!!

just a side note... Lion told me tonight "mum, your face looks spiffy" I thought that was one of the sweetest things he could say!

And my dress isnt fit for public viewing yet. I found it for $35 at a clearance store, for that price, to find a dress I loved (wolf doesn't but we have different criteria) with only one size left a size too big I figured I could find a way to make it fit (or possibly my wonderful nanna could when she gets here on wednesday???) I am so proud of the way we will look for what we have paid!!! I was getting ready to spend heaps getting us all beautiful for this wedding but Dragon is free, everything ours or borrowed, Lion $45, Wolf (he's the expensive one, I let him buy a new suit that is actually fashionable so we wont mention his cost) and Mummy McT $65. I had to buy a new bra and it nearly doubled my costs but I have borrowed shoes which I thought I would need to buy. I have been wearing maternity bras since falling pregnant with Lion since I fed lion till after I was pregnant with Dragon and then there didnt seem much point shelling out for new bras when Dragon stopped feeding when I plan on being pregnant before I would get enough use to make it worth the money but sometimes you just gotta get one to fit the occasion. Had I bought a dress that Wolf liked I would have had to buy some of those Dr Rey underwear that keeps everything from moving! My criteria were: nothing slinky, I dont want to think about every morsel I put in my mouth. Raised waist, It's my favourite Italian resturant for the reception (wolf proposed over takeaway from here) I have to have room to fit in my whole meal. Straps, I have BOYS nearly 4 and nearly 2 years old, I NEED STRAPS! And bonus points for something that doesnt show up the dirty hand prints I will get on me from those boys, it's purple. So for now that is all you have to go on! Oh, I will tell you that i did feel a little "child of the 80's" when the two front runners were a balloon skirt and a rah-rah skirt!!!! It's the balloon skirt that won.

Lion and the BMX race.

Lion saw a promo of "what's on the olympics today" and thought the BMX racing was great!

"Mummy, when I am big like Daddy I will do that, and I will beat everyone on their bicycles because I will have a MOTORBIKE, I like to beat people!"

Fair play is not a concept he is really familiar with.

He is a little interested in motorbikes lately because Uncle R took the ramps for the ride on mower to use for his new quad bike. Lion hasn't seen the quad yet but is impressed and thinks that it must be a really great motorbike because it has four wheels, not just two!!

A birthday party for little bear...

I have long decided not to post birthday messages on here for nieces and nephews. There are too many and i would forget someone's and then they would be upset and it's just best not to start... However I am going to make mention of a very exciting first birthday party we went to this afternoon for one of them. Little Bear turned 1. Hurray! And somehow I was roped into making her a cake. The conversation went something like this...

Chimera (who now is beyond aunty K becasue she has her own blog...)- Did you make your boys birthday cakes?

Mummy McT - No I iced them but i cheated and bought slab cake and a sponge roll to make the shapes, Why?

C- They were really good.

MMcT - Thanks.

*little pause*

C - Can you do Little Bear's for saturday?

*insert big discussion about why she couldnt do it*

MMcT - Okay.

I think it turned out okay so here it is....

and this is Little bear and her mummy, Chimera and her daddy (um, as far as i know we are still calling him Uncle R but he needs a different name because there are two uncle R's) and the bonus is her cousin T. There is always a bonus child in the candle photos isnt there???

so go check out Chimera's blog and encourage her to go BEYOND THE FIRST POST!!! I'm not nagging, she has been very busy lately, we wont rush her...
