Today's Sunday Snapshot is brought to you by the Kite Festival Night Flights!
Kites, flying in the night, with lights on... sounds GREAT!
The reality was a little disappointing...
Can you see all the kites in the sky behind this disappointed little man?
Nope, neither could we.
There were kites... and night... and GLOWSTICKS!!! Seriously!
I was imagining kites shaped like Chinese lanterns lighting up the sky, creatively designed kites that were illuminated from the inside... not all the same kites they used for the day flights with GLOWSTICKS attached to the strings. Don't get me wrong, there were some impressive kites (yes, all the same ones that were just as impressive last year) but the whole "night flights" concept was a bit misleading. I will admit, things could have got better after we left, when Monkey woke up we decided to cut our losses and go before we lost a child in the crowd.
Still, we got out of the house, had some yummy Red Rooster down in Strand Park with half of the rest of our city and the kids ran around like crazed animals.
This is all I can handle for Sunday Snapshot this week... enjoy.
We were going to go to the kite festival (during the day) but yesterday neither of us really felt like going out.
ReplyDeletePoor little Dragon. Kisses by airmail are on their way xxxxx. (share some with Lion & Monkey for me :-)
That is the same disappointed look that we saw after the City Council "renovated" (ruined) our park. The same City Council that organised the kite festival. The same City Council that SOMEONE(not me) keeps voting back in.
ReplyDeleteMy poor boys. Can we rename our city "Wet Blanket"? It has a certain ring to it. . .
Yes, I could see how that would be a huge let down. I like your concept much better than glowsticks attached to kite strings. That picture perfectly captures the moment of disappointment. At least you had some nice eats and everyone got out of the house for a bit.
ReplyDeleteWell, the idea was a neat one...the execution? um...not so great. Still, you're right...sometimes it is just nice to get out of the house for awhile!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun, only poor Dragon doesn't seem to be enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a sad little boy. Glad to hear that there was still fun to be had (even without the kites)... but, yeah, that sounded like a little creative advertising there!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
It does tend to be disappointing when things don't turn out the way you planned. Poor Dragon. At least they had Red Rooster and a run around. That does help cheer up wee boys.
ReplyDeleteKites with glow sticks isn't exactly the illumination I would have predicted either, but I suppose they are light enough not to impede the flight.
ReplyDeleteMy kids LOVE running around like crazed animals.
I would also imagine special kites that light up etc.
