Excitement!

I just got an email saying that there is a super awesome parcel on it's way to me!  Do you want to know what the best bit for you is?  It's for a FANTASTIC GIVE AWAY!

But that's all I'm telling you right now.

So, what else has been going on around here in my bloggy quietness?  Lots.  That is partly to blame for the quietness.  It's been a busy two terms at school and last holidays we were so busy with endless invitations to here and there that we didn't get much of a break.  Now we are in our second week of these holidays and I am feeling refreshed and ready to face the final chaotic term of school.  I made a purposeful decision to stay home a lot these holidays.  As much as possible to do things that included all of the kids and to spend lots of time just being together.

But, leading up to the holidays we did have a little bit of fun...

Lion's school does a school concert every second year and in the other year the do something on a much smaller scale.  This year they presented a Food & Dance Fiesta!  Each year level presented a dance and there was all sorts of food for sale and the year levels all manned stalls selling different things.  The year ones all had to bring in cupcakes to be sold at their stall which was a raging success.  Lion's class danced to "boot scootin' baby".  I was thrilled when the classes came out in lines and Lion was right at the front down the end where I was standing (I had Monkey in the pram so I could only get to the ends).  Then they decided to do a re-shuffle for some reason... Lion ended up at the back, in the middle, behind some rather tall kids.  I got rare glances of him and managed to get a couple of photos that weren't real good but hey, we got a record of the event.  After the first time through they had to come and get a parent to dance with them.  Unfortunately with Monkey in the pram (against his wishes) and Wolf at work, I couldn't be the one to go and dance with him.  He had taught Dragon some of the moves so I encouraged (bribed with an extra cupcake) Dragon to go and dance with him.  You can imaging how much of that I saw with all the parents of the kids in the front two rows dancing in front of my tiny little boys.  Oh well, I was proud of both of them for getting up there... even if I couldn't see most of it.

We went down to The Strand Ephemera to check out some of the artwork on the day before Father's Day.  The kids had a ball but I was suffering with sinus headaches from a horrid sinus infection that just wont go away.  Some of the art was good... some was just really really poor.  These are two pieces that the kids particularly enjoyed.

Last week (1st week of school holidays) Wolf had the Tuesday off so we took of up the the beach hut for the day with Grannysaurus and Cheetah.  We played in the sand, swam in the ocean, boogy boarded, went to Frosty Mango (Aunty Chimera and Little Bear joined us for that)... we had a generally awesome time.  Not many photos were taken because the photographer was having too much fun!  Mum did grab a few on my camera while I was in the ocean though.

I was so proud of my kids... and Cheetah.  We'll start at the oldest...  Cheetah had never ridden a boogy board before and was struggling to catch a wave.  Even after I explained when to push off.  I had a thought... I don't use the top of the wave to tell when to jump, I use the feeling around my ankles of the water rushing back out to sea as well as the look of the wave...  As the next lot of "big" waves were starting to roll in I quickly explained how waves work and at which point in the waves life you need to push off and all of a sudden he was riding like a pro!

Lion was dumped wave after wave.  He saw a particularly big wave coming and got a gleam in his eye... He caught it and it took him two metres and dumped him.  HARD.  His little head popped up from under the water, he spat mouthfuls of sand and sea water out and looked at me.  I thought he might be about to cry... his little voice spoke up... "that. was. AWESOME".  He grabbed his hat, wrung the water out of it, put it back on his head and took of to find his next wave.

Dragon is usually a one wave boy.  He gets dumped once and that's it.  He's sitting in the shallows and wont try again.  He was dumped over and over and over and he just kept going back for more.

Monkey is also a stick to what he knows kinda kid.  Especially in the ocean.  He got out there and was riding the boards with no one holding on to him (much to mummy's horror), he was jumping waves and pretending to fall over... he had a blast!

So there's a little of what we have been up to.  There's still so much more to share... but not today.  I hope there are still people reading this little old blog... it'd be a shame if there was no one to win the fantastic prize I'll have to give away soon!

Sunday Snapshot

It's been one of those weeks that just flew by...

Monday we spent a big chunk of the day with Grannysaurus picking new taps etc for our bathroom.
Tuesday Wolf had the day off so we could take the kids to see an exhibit at the Museum of Tropical Queensland (MTQ).  They had a special exhibit “Creepy Crawlies Alive” and indeed they were, creepy, crawly and alive, that is.  They had Giant Burrowing Cockroaches, Giant Stick Insects, Bird Eating Spiders, Millipedes, Large Brown Scorpions (seriously,  that’s its common name), Giant Snails... are you getting the picture, a LOT of these creatures had ‘large’ or ‘giant’ in their names... it was icky.  I didn't take many photos.  Actually I only took one photo and it was outside.  It was of a Golden Orb Weaver spider that had built a web across the road.

This is not the only spider like this that we have around here, there is a Redback spinning a web in a tree at a park near us who is similar in size to this big fella.

Wednesday was a run of the mill day, staying at home, trying to get stuff done, all of my plans being thwarted by one or another of my progeny.

Thursday is usually a day for staying at home in the morning and when daddy knocks of early we all go and get the groceries done.  This week Wolf had other things he needed to do in the afternoon, like attack this...

Since it has rained almost every day since Christmas our yard that was a dust bowl on Christmas day has since turned jungle-like (that grass was about half way up my shins) and needed to be brought under control.  So since we still needed groceries the kids and I bribed Grannysaurus to help us with groceries in the morning so Wolf could get mowing in the afternoon.

Friday was featured in yesterdays post about my Beach Baby!
Saturday our only trip out was to buy Lion's school uniforms but the place we went to only stocked the sports shirts and nothing else so we still need to buy shorts and a formal shirt for him but we are a bit closer to having everything we need to start school.
Today we made it to church.  We get there every week but some weeks feel like more of an achievement than others depending on how chaotic our morning was.  I made cupcakes that did not turn out well at all but still taste yummy so I will have to just eat them all myself.

So there is a snapshot of our week.  It was a big week with lots to keep us busy.  I tried to involve the kids in cooking and preparing the food a bit more than I usually do and I remembered why I don't do it as much as I would like... Every time I told them "okay this is hot so don't touch it" Dragon had to check to see if I was telling the truth... a hot baking tray, the oven door, a hot frypan, a measuring cup of hot water... it all just gets too much for my poor old heart.  Thankfully the tray had cooled just enough to give him a fright and not burn him, the oven had not reached temperature yet, he touched a handle of the frypan and our hot water is set to a temperature that wont burn little ones.  I swear if I told the kid to keep his hands away from a bull-ant nest he'd just as likely dive on in!  He does it with everything... "that glue isn't dry so don't touch that yet" *touch* "your dinner is still hot don't take a bite yet" *bite* "don't touch that" *touch* "Eeewww, that was Monkey boogers I wiped on his bib"... he just doesn't learn.
Tomorrow Dragon starts kindy... I'm sad... he's excited... we'll see how we are feeling when I go to leave him there.  Tonight we went through everything that he already knows goes on at kindy.  I got him to tell me what happens when we get there in the morning, where his lunch goes, where his sheets go, who his teacher will be, what toys he might get to play with, just letting him realise that it's not a big deal, he already knows so much about kindy.  Tomorrow we will have the talk about how he might see some kids crying because they don't want their mummy or daddy to leave them but he can be a friend to those kids and ask them if they want to play with him and help them feel better and show them how fun kindy can be... hopefully then he wont think that it's something he can try on.  Pray for us!

Beach Baby

We’re all going on a summer holiday, no more working for a week or two... except for Wolf... and it was only for a day... and not really much of a holiday, just a few hours away from regular life... eh, scratch the song, it’s just not going to work for this post.

I took off up to our family beach hut for the day yesterday with the boys, Grannysaurus, Grandad and Great Grandma. We popped in to visit family friends who live in the area for morning tea and then headed to the beach hut for the rest of the day. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of the big boys because I took all those ones on Mums camera. I do have a few of a certain little Monkey’s first trip to the beach! Lion and Dragon were both at our beach hut before they were two weeks old so this is quite a wait for little Monkey... and I think he liked it.

This beach is wonderful, it has just the right mix of everything you need and no one to share it with! While the grandies and the kiddies had a nap/rest during the heat of the day I headed down the road a bit to take Monkey to visit Aunty Em who was having a holiday with ALL her family nearby... and we may have stayed a bit longer than we intended since it was stinkin’ hot and their cabins were air-conditioned.

When it did get cool/shady enough to go down to the beach Monkey and I spent most of our time in the shade to protect his fresh new non-sunscreen wearing skin and let the grandparents (great grandma had gone home) deal with the big boys.  Dragon and Grandad took a wander down to the point and trialed a nearby playground and Grannysaurus and Lion took on the stinger enclosure.  Now don't think I was shirking all the hard work in this deal... Noooo, Monkey and I worked on his kissy face.

Unfortunately it was hard to get a photo with one hand and keep a hold of Mr Wriggles with the other.  He is really good at it but he has to be in the right mood or it just ain't happening.  Oh, and just in case you can't tell, he's VERY serious about kisses!

Monkey had his first feel of sand between his toes and I think the only reason he like it is because he made it into something close enough to work for mummy to do... he would keep his feet still JUST long enough to let me cover them up then he would kick it off and wait for me to do it again... possibly he just kept freaking out when his feet kept disappearing... who knows.

Most of the time he wanted to be sitting in my lap or carried but he did get his feet wet (photos on mum's camera) and he did have a little lay down on a beach towel just chillin' in the afternoon cool.

Now, just because I can't get enough of those sweet little beach baby toes here's another photo...

Now I need to plan when we can go back as a whole family for a few days... We are a big family with four generations and one beach hut so if you don't book in early all the good weekends are gone!

Christmas Photos

We don't usually do a family Christmas photo but since I made matching shirts for the kids this year I figured why not.

This is the one I would love to give people...

Let it be known that I am not the most gracious model for these sort of things. I have in my head what I want from the photo and then I have to ask someone else to take it without them being able to see what I am seeing in my head... bound for problems. Let it also be known that my mum is VERY patient with me and we did actually get some photos that were pretty much what was going on in my head but it was getting 3 boys and 2 parents looking, smiling and not hitting mosquitoes all at the same time that brought us down. We bribed with McDonalds for dinner and truth be told they did better than I expected in order to earn their McDonalds.

I plan on posting our Christmas photo on Christmas day to give me a chance to get it printed and out to people before they see it here.

I'm not sure, but I think if you click on that photo it will come up bigger for you... if you're brave.

I know and old lady

but I'm not sure if she has ever swallowed a fly and she certainly wouldn't eat a spider. Even one made of icing. There is a whole story to this cake. Lion had been asking what sort of cake grandma wanted over and over and over and mummy got sick of it so we rang grandma. Mummy thought we were asking what sort of cake Grandma wanted as in chocolate, sponge, cheesecake. No, Lion was thinking Bob the Builder, Teddy Bear, Spider, he was thinking kids party cake because after all he is a kid! So when grandma foolishly asked him what sort of cake she should have he said "a spider cake like J at kindy had" um, okay lion. So grandma thought we should see what Dragon thought as well. Dragons response - "you are a girly so you have a pink cake" so we decided chocolate cake with pink icing and a spider - a redback spider, something nice and deadly:)

Of course making the cake is half the fun...

gather everything together and pose for a photo

Dragon was a little fearful of the mixer, he always has been. He learnt it from his big brother.

Who has since grown out of it and now figures the mixer counts as a power tool!

Oh look, the chocolate cake we made has turned into a butter cake... or perhaps that is the gluten free one that I made the night before and it didn't turn out real good so I decided the boys could ice that one for Aunty Jingles to have all for herself (I kept a VERY close eye on where tongues and fingers and snot were and made sure it was no where near the cake, Aunty Jingles doesn't have kids yet).

Lion is designing the spider web for their cake...

and very carefully on goes the spider (a redback of course)

Dragon's sweet pudgy little fingers get in on the icing action

and to finish it off mummy dutifully writes what the boys request.

Happy Birthday Grannysaurus. We had a great party, we hope you did too. Head on over to her blog to wish her a belated happy birthday for Saturday too!

The last slice of cake is sitting in our fridge... with the spider on it. Turns out I can't eat it either. I think I'll scrape it off and gobble down the icingless cake during nap time tomorrow. No point in wasting good chocolate cake.

Oh yeah, and she's really not all that old.

Excitement PLUS!

It's a cut throat world this blogland... I have been meaning to catch up with posting photos from things we did over the last week and a half but I've had to skip over all of that briefly to post some photos of what we did yesterday... See, Grannysaurus is taking the boys to do the same thing today and well, her photos will probably be better so I want to get mine blogged first. Then hers are old news and no one will care, you'll all be like, "yeah Grannysaurus, we've already seen them do that" and I'll be all like "nyah nyah Grannysaurus, my blog is better than yours" and she'll be all like "oh, it's not bad" (um, sorry, inside joke I think).

Well maybe... anyway, Wolf is away, Grannysaurus has taken the boys out and I figured I'd better blog something while I have the chance.

They have been building a new motorway near our house... I know, it's exciting isn't it. It's taking about 10 minutes or more off any trip north we do, Whoopee! Well, the boys thought so. We explained that it would make the trip to Frosty Mango shorter for us and when it was opened we would go to Frosty Mango so that we could take a drive on the new road. Well it opened on Friday. Lion did nothing but "ring-road" associated play at kindy that day and checked with all his teachers if they were going to Frosty Mango now that the ring-road was opened. So Saturday morning off we trot to Frosty Mango, It's about an hours drive north in the middle of almost nowhere but well worth the trip! Do you think they like it there?
So, our Icecream choices were...

TWO scoops each.
Lion - Mango/ Mint choc-chip

Dragon - Dragonfruit/Vanilla

Wolf - Passionfruit/Ginger
Mummy - Tiramisu/Cappuccino

I may or may not have influenced their choices of icecream to compensate for the fact that I can't get all my favourites into one 2 scoop cone... maybe...

I think that was a good way to test out the new road, don't you?

Dr Kevin Leman Exposed...

Okay, it's not really exposing anything at all, I just started to put this in the comments and it was just a bit long so I figure why not make a post all of it's own...

Confused... read the previous post plus comments.

Leman's birth order book doesn't offer advice on how to bring up kids, it is actually geared more to adult relationships. His theories are used by big companies to help profile prospective employees and also for just helping people understand why this person or that person functions the way they do. The parenting book doesn't offer advice so much either, it is more making you aware of how those same "types" operate as children. I found it really well balanced in that it didn't say "this is what your kid will do" or "this is what you should do with your kid" like you get from so many parenting 'experts'. They say forewarned is forearmed, that is how I read it, a middle child (usurped youngest, sniff, sniff, sob, sob) about to have a first-born, and I was rightly scared witless! He does do other parenting and discipline books and also marriage books but I haven't read them so I can't comment on them.

The lack of parenting books at our house would horrify some of my book-learnin' friends but I figured why waste money on books making me feel bad when there are plenty of people out there willing to let me know where I'm going wrong for free. Like... "seriously, you've known my kids for 5 minutes and you are critiquing my parenting???" ah, how many times I wish I had the guts to say that one...
Anyway, this was just an aside, I'd love to know if you have read his book/s and if you think you fit his profile for your birth order. I know we are all falling into our little places here.

Re: Grannysaurus' comment... Grannysaurus, you read this blog, do I come across as an emotionally healthy adult? Oops. That was never the intention... sorry if I mislead anyone.

They say the Weather makes them do it...

I was watching some daytime TV today and found out that the ideal humidity according to "the Dr's" is 35%. I figured it was a rather pleasant day today I should go check what the humidity was currently doing...

79%

And that is a good day. So I did some more research, acceptable humidity is 30-60%. Remember, as far as humidity goes, today was a good day here at 79%. These "Dr's" (and I can do the "..." thing because it's the name of their show and they may not actually be Dr's) said when I child gets a cold I should set the humidifier to 35-40% or something like that. Oops, here I have been putting the humidifier in their already overly humid room (according to the Dr's) and turning the air to liquid. Seems to help though.

We had the hissy fit to end all hissy fits today. Lion chucked such a fuss I had no idea what to do. So I just kept doing what I needed to do and pretended he wasn't screaming and crying as I pushed the trolley through Woolworths and waited in an insanely long line and drove home through pelting rain.

It lasted about an hour. Bear with me, it's actually kinda funny...

I went to pick him up from kindy and he did his usual I don't want to go home thing and told me that we should go to the aquarium (according to wolf he had in his little head that we had made some sort of deal and I was taking him there after kindy today) and I said Reef HQ would be closed. He started crying. It was raining when we left and he didn't want to get wet so he cried a bit more. I told him that it was only going to get heavier so run to the car now or risk getting soaked. He cried as he ran. I told him we were going to get some groceries quickly. He said he wanted to buy a toy. I said no. He cried louder and harder. I offered for him to go to Grannysaurus' while I did the few groceries. He said no, he would come with Dragon and I so he could buy a toy. I said no toys. He cried some more. Dragon told him he loved him. He wailed and cried. He asked to go to Daddy's work while I shopped. I said no. He cried. We got to the carpark for the shops and he asked to go to Grannysaurus' house. I said too late. He cried. I wouldn't leave him sitting by himself in the car while I did groceries. He screamed and cried. Dragon started to threaten that I would leave Lion in the car. Lion screamed and cried. Dragon touched Lion accidentally as I put Lion in the trolley. Lion spazzed out and cried. I put the chicken in the trolley wrong. He cried. I didn't face all the milk cartons the same way. He cried. The check-out line was too long. He cried. I was leaving the supermarket. He cried. I put him back in the car that he didn't want to get out of 30 minutes before. He cried. We headed home instead of to Grannysaurus'. My goodness did he CRY. I wouldn't drive down the street that was completely underwater. He cried. The huge puddle I drove through wasn't big enough. He cried. Dragon was pretending we were going to go for a ride in a helicopter. You guessed it... Lion cried. I said I didn't know where to find a helicopter so we had better just go home. Lion cried because he remembered we were going home. Dragon mentioned the helicopter again. pause for a moment... start channeling your inner manic melodramatic 4 year old with a "the world is about to end" hint to your voice...

"BUT MUMMY DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO FIND A HELICOPTER, SHE JUST KNOWS WHERE THE AIRPORT IS"

Now start crying again.

It continued. He didn't want to get out of the car, he didn't want to let daddy in the garage...

oh it was so tiring. It wasn't gentle sobbing, it was over-the-top-dramatic-flair-wave-your-arms-about-to-get-the-maximum-attention crying. With the odd wailed reminder thrown in about why he was upset (you never let me buy any toys, you wont take me to the aquarium, you wouldn't take me to Grandmas, I don't want to go home, you get the idea) After the initial frustration at his silliness I was having to laugh at most of his silly answers to things. I wish I could remember them all but the helicopter was the best. I just wish I had a video set on him so I could show him tomorrow.

So, another long post with no photos. I'm a bit boring lately. You can imagine I wasn't in the photo taking mood this afternoon...

Hoon Kings

A couple of days ago Grannysaurus posted some pictures of Dragon and me at her place with real crash helmets on riding our plastic motorbikes. We really enjoyed the crashing part and Grannysaurus said she couldn't wait until we could get a real motorbike, well neither could we, but Mummy said:

"There will be no motorbikes for these boys. EVER.I mean it.NO MOTORBIKES."
Well, we showed her today, Daddy let us hoon on a motorbike... Through the shopping centre! Well the roads were too wet, it was FUN!

Rain Dance

I was absolutely ready to leave mum's house this afternoon but just we stood on the footpath for a minute to have a little sticky beak at all the emergency vehicles and tow trucks attending an accident near by (seriously people, the road is slippery, SLOW DOWN)
Then I turned around to see Dragon half way up his boardies in a puddle. That's okay we'll take his pants off to go home... then he leans over so his little body is horizontal but still not in the water..... and he splashes.

He's soaking so mummy says, okay, why not, have a play, get wet, you can go home in just your duds. This is the fun that followed...
They call it Grannysaurus' swimming pool

I'm a LADY!

I love it that my husband still thinks I'm a lady even though he knows better.

I have started the ride on mower a zillion (well at least a half dozen) times before but he still walked me thought it this morning. He's so sweet.

Now to convince him I'm enough of a lady that I shouldn't even be sitting on ride on mower...

Sorry there's not many photos lately... the whole find-the-cord-that-fits-the-camera thing has proved a little difficult... stupid flash card reader dying... there will be non-camera-phone photos soon... I promise... I think.

Also, I reckon the company you keep says a lot about you... My friend Queen Stuss has done the meme taggy thing I did a few posts ago... I'm not sure what her answers say about me (or her), you can make up your own mind on that one but check it out... I tagged my sister too and she's got heranswers here... I spend a lot more time with my sister than most chicks... as far as I can tell anyway... She tagged my mum (I had to leave her someone) and mum's answers are here... Just in case you had nothing else to do tonight (or today depending on which part of the earth you make your home in).

So this is Christmas....

Ahhh, nothing says Christmas like the smell of....

Body Odour in a crowded shopping centre?

We had storms a few nights ago. The roof leaked and it busted the air con at one of our main shopping centres. May I just remind you northern hemisphere folk that it's summer here and we live in TROPICAL North Queensland. The stink of all those bodies hustling past each other and the stress induced sweating and the lack of air con not helping and... and... and... YUCK!

We met a lovely super wonderful friend of mine for coffee after the blood test because I needed to download and she has finished for the year so was free. We did have a lovely coffee (we picked a good cafe so that we didnt have stinkies sitting around us) and I found that the junk shop had all new stickers in and so I overloaded on stickers (and they had some removable wall ones for $3 a pack so I am going to finally do the boys room with diggers and cement mixers and road work signs) because I was almost out but didnt feel like getting the same boring ones I always seem to find.

I actually went into the junk shop to buy glitter for the boys to make our christmas cards. Many of you have Thanksgiving to let you know that christmas is getting close and you should send out cards and get all the gifts together. We here in Australia just have to deal with it when it gets to 2 weeks to christmas and you go "oops, better get crackin' on that one" So on Tuesday when I went to the shops it was rather civilised still, on Wednesday it was crazy and on Thursday it was Psycho. I have presents to buy, I have nothing! I have to go the the shops with the worst parking to pick up our portraits, and I cant sneak in early in the morning, they only allow collections after 1pm. I am going to get through this week and then I will get cracking on christmas stuff.

So what else says Christmas. Aparently dead bugs all over the house Christmas morn. My sister wants to get her house fumigated before Christmas. When you get your house sprayed from what I have heard you just wake up one morning a few days later and every bug in the neighbourhood has crawled out onto your floor to slowly die. She is having the family (her hubby's side) for christmas dinner and we are rocking around for a bit of a morning tea or something to get our present giving done before the big E.X.T.E.N.D.E.D family thing that night. I can just see us getting there finding her picking up the last of the bugs that chose christmas morning to cark in on her kitchen floor. What if something like this happens with her precious little bear? Can you imagine being that poor kid when she grows up and her mum blogs something like that about her? Hang on... that baby looks sorta familiar...

Had my vent of all thing irrelevant for tonight.

Still saving the planet

I know some people were really worried over this post about me giving up on saving the planet. I would like to inform you that I have done my bit to make up for using planet killing dishwasher tablets. We went 10 hours without using any electricity. I'm not talking about no TV or cooking on the BBQ, I'm talking about not a scrap of power to our entire house. Fridges -OFF, TV- OFF, computers- OFF, the lot, not standby, OFF. We didnt even use our car!

It was not by choice of course but I do think that I have paid the price to our planet. Our power went out at about 2pm, just as we were going for nap time. The boys got to sleep, I couldnt. I called my sister to see if we could come and use her carbon emissions pool and airconditioner. So as soon as the boys woke up we disengaged the garage roller-door motor...

DISENGAGED the garage...

DISENGAGED the...

oh forget it we called grannysaurus to see if Wolf could drive the ute over and pick up her car so we could all get to Chimera's. We had a great time, we swam, sat in the nice cool air con, worried about our fridge full of leftovers getting wasted, ate dinner (some of the leftovers that I had thought to bring with us) and then felt we had imposed long enough. I kept ringing the faults line to try and get an idea about when our power would be back on but they were giving me no hope.

The boys were excited by using torches but a bit freaked out by all the darkness. we eventually got them to sleep and it got hotter and hotter and hotter and Wolf went and pitched the tent in the black backyard. He left the fly off and it was heaps cooler but not big enough for us all so we moved the boys out there (who really were not going back to sleep after we moved them into a super exciting tent) and I stayed inside and did sudoku's by candle light and had some alone time. I have been craving some alone time lately so I guess that was as good as I can expect for now.

MIDNIGHT the power came back on, 1am the tarriffed power (aircon) came back on and we all slept happily for the next 6 hours.

Some things I have learnt from this...

I am so glad I put together a decent Cyclone Kit last season and knew where it was.

I do not cope well with heat.

Wolf does not cope well with heat.

Kids do not cope well with heat.

It was still 33C in our kitchen at 10:30 last night.

There is no breeze going through our house at all at night.

Rich suburbs get their power back on first and derro suburbs like us have to wait (we have a great area in a generally derro suburb).

Candles give off a lot of heat.

I am really tired today.

I wanted to put a photo with this but I am too tired to bother.

I am thankful for the huge chunk of "creeping ice" in my fridge that kept my milk and leftovers nicely chilled for 10 hours.

My kids are finally asleep so I am going to go do the same.

An insight into ME!

I hesitate to do this, there are some things better kept a secret.

Like who your parents are...

um, no...

that's not how I meant it to sound...

Ahh...

What I meant was...

My mum has decided to divulge all our family secrets and skeletons...

no, perhaps...

Mothers know too much to be let loose in blogland...

Note to self *once in hole, stop digging*

So I guess what I am trying to say is...

My Mum is blogging now. She is officially "Grannysaurus" and you can find her here @ Dragonlady Grotto.

It's her deep profound thoughts, some family history and probably stuff about her completely adorable grandchildren.

So if you want an insight into how I turned out the way I did... probably best not to go there, anything she writes about me is all lies ;)
