A Month of Sundayssssssnapshots.
Wow, it's been a month since the last Sunday Snapshot. Since I did a catch up post earlier this week I wont fill you in on the last month, I'll just jump right in here at this Sunday Snapshot. Just a warning though, I am not a microblogger, you may have noticed. This post is one of my lengthier ones...
Last Sunday we took the kids for a ride down by the river and a play in the playground there. It was a drizzly afternoon so it was nice and cool and it also had kept a lot of people away so it was fairly quiet.
My little ducklings all in a row. They had a great time on their bikes, I am starting to think that it's probably time to move them all up one... except we don't have anywhere to move Lion up to... so it'll just have to wait until I figure that one out.
This section of the boardwalk gives a wonderful view of the river, the boys didn't mind stopping for a minute to watch the ski boats dragging the skiers around the river.
This is taken at the bottom of the boardwalk close to where the first photo was taken. The river is FILLED with turtles and ducks hang around and fish pip at the surface and the water lilies float gently on the ripples... it's a lovely river. (Nope, not even going to mention the crocodiles today)
With the playground in sight the boys took off...
They love this tree house. The whole park has been designed for wheelchair access so I can get the pram right in there so Monkey can get in and play with them. We played and ate afternoon tea and went home worn out.

The humor in our house never stops...
"My butt hurts..."
"What?"

Lion's school had their ANZAC day parade on Friday. I took Dragon and Monkey along. Each class had made a wreath to lay at the ceremony, Lion's class is the "A" wreath, A for ANZAC.
Each year the local QCWA branch gives a gift of books to one local school. This year they gave them to Lion's school, a very exciting addition to their new library.
Monkey has a new skill. Well, the skill isn't so new, he has been able to wave for a while. The new bit is that if you don't wave back within what His Royal Highness deems an acceptable amount of time... he will yell at you. Proceedings were going along nicely, Monkey started waving at the back of one of the army men who was also attending. Since it was his back that was being waved to, the army man didn't wave back... make sense? Anyway, I tried waving back to him myself, I tried to get him to settle down but it wasn't working... don't forget this was a solemn parade, with a minute silence fast approaching... you guessed it. Monkey got Jack of not being waved back to RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SILENCE. My boy was screaming at someone in the middle of the minute silence... an army man, no less. Classy. I'm pretty sure that all of the few hundred primary school students that were there were managing to be silent... imagine that for a moment... all those kids who NEVER stop talking, fidgeting, making noises simply for the sake of making noises were SILENT. MONUMENTOUS OCCASION. Monkey, well, Monkey was an upset baby who just wanted the army man to wave back at him.

On Friday we went to the park by the river again with some friends. They did attend our church until recently and their second oldest was good friends with Lion. Lion has really missed him for the few weeks since they changed churches so us mums decided a play was in order. So, T and her 4 boys rode to the park and we ducked over there after school with my 3 boys and we had a wild time all afternoon. I wanted to get a photo of all of the boys together but putting 7 boys ranging in age from 7 to 0 in one photo and try to get them all looking at the camera is not going to go well. So, I didn't ask them to look at the camera...
I asked them to pull silly faces. So, left to right, Dragon (3), his buddy S (3), Lion (5), his buddy B (5), J (7), E (1) and Monkey (7.5mos).
Thank you for coming to play with us you crazy boys!!!

Questions Answered:
From the Catching up on the Cuteness post.
For Ginny Marie-
Here's a nice dodgy photo of Dragon with something daddy caught for him. No, it's not the big frog from the BBQ, it's a smaller frog from the BBQ. We clear the frogs out when it's time to use the barbie, they don't much like it but I'm sure if they realised what the other option was they would be thankful.
Boy Mom- I make my own baby food, I even made the rice cereal this time! I have made my own for each boy because I lick my fingers when I'm feeding them and I like what I lick off to be edible. I haven't liked what I've tried of the tinned stuff.
From the Easter Excitement post.
Boy Mom- at Kindy shoes are optional. It's great, freedom to kick off our shoes all year round, sandals all year if we want... What's that? You haven't been able to wear sandals for months? Spring has been fickle and you still don't know if you will be wearing boots or sandals when you wake up each day? oh, that is sad.
Leah- Yes, my boys are the ones that play air guitar during the kids song at church. They are VERY comfortable being themselves at church... a little too comfortable if we recall that little moment a few weeks ago where Dragon shared all about Daddy burping at the dinner table.
From the Bin there Done that post.
Suz- YES we are getting so much more sleep. I keep thinking I should do a post about it so I can remember just what I can survive when I next think I am up against an impossible situation. Thanks for praying for us. I hope you are getting more sleep too.

The Beauty of the Beast.
I'm not chasing confirmation that my son is a manly little spunk-rat.
I already know that.
sleeping the night away at Cousin Wilbie's party
I'm just posing a question here...
Would you ever tell someone that their SON is "so beautiful he could be a girl"?
That's what I was told on Sunday. Thankfully by someone whose opinion I do not value much at all. The good, the bad, the ugly, I take it all with a grain of salt. But seriously, "so beautiful he could be a girl"?
At what point did that seem like an intelligent thing to say?
Now, after this I hope you all answered "no" when I asked the first question or I'm lookin' like a dill.
I will add - I don't have a problem with my babies being called "beautiful", I do that myself... I just think this is a bit different... don't you?

Don't get comfortable...
This will not be a regular posting thing... Just a one off today.

LOL- thankfully he hasn't got a sister! It sure looks wet there - maybe you could send some of that our way!!BTW I thought you had released huddy in the wild! - did he fly all the way home?
I'd love to send some your way! There is water just streaming off our yard out onto the street, WASTED. Huddy only went back to the wild to visit his mum. I think we'll have Huddy for many more years.

OMGosh! Now THAT is a mud puddle! HOLY! What a cool mummy to let the boys jump in the puddles :)
It is some sort of access point for some services cables or something. The level of the yard has been slowly raised around it and so it's about 15cm lower than the surrounding ground. I wasn't aware there was a choice about kids jumping in puddles, I thought it was a fact of life. Leaving kindy yesterday and the boys weren't wearing shoes. There was a big puddle in the car park and they wanted to play in it. I said they could walk through it and get their feet wet but that was all. Lion was an angel, walked through it swishing his feet then climbed in the car and grabbed a towel and wiped his feet (boy he made me proud) Dragon walked through it, then reversed through it, then stomped through it, then reversed through it, then jumped up and down in it, then BENT OVER AND SPLASHED WITH HIS HANDS. AHhhh, mummy had to enter the puddle at that point to fish him out before he got soaked. He had to sit in his soggy shorts the whole way home.

Yup, that sure is a puddle. A bit like the one from the Vicar of Dibley which is so deep Geraldine can hide in.The boys sure look like they had a great time.Hope your cubby didn't get too blown away in the cyclone.
That episode was on (again) Christmas eve, we watched and wrapped presents and I think because I knew what was going to happen I was laughing before she even jumped in the puddle! Actually I don't think presents got wrapped until that was finished, it was too distracting.
Cubby house still standing, only one piece of wood came off the shade cloth.

We were wondering if you were experiencing bad weather too - our news reports only showed gulf area and Cairns.
Yeah, we didn't get it like Cairns but they did build their whole dodgy city within 500m of the beach. From the news reports you would think the cyclone hit Cairns not the gulf in some little known non-newsworthy place. There are trees down all over the place here but not much damage other than that. I think perhaps low lying areas got their feet wet with the king tides that came at the same time. But as for cairns, if you build your city on a mud-flat you gotta expect problems at a king tide, then throw in a cyclone for good measure and you'll have some real problems. (We just don't get along with Cairns, We have bumper stickers here "I love to see Cairns... In the rear view mirror" it's just what you do when you live here).

I hope the cyclone doesnt hit too bad in your area. And I think the peice of wood on the shade thing would have been to weight it down? or to make it easier to roll up. We had something similar at our old house.
And the non-existent prize goes to Peta G! I was informed by Wolf that the piece of wood is indeed to help roll it up.

hehe secretly I want to wear the pettiskirt!!!! Maybe in our mid 30's we shouldn't - but it has our names written all over it! Think we'd look cute in a beanie and gum boots too?
Of course we'd look cute in a beanie and gumboots! but hold on... Mid 30's, well maybe SOME OF US are mid 30's, I've still got ages to go... sort of! Seriously go here and check out this skirt (and Annie's photography and all the lovely babies that she gets to photograph).
To all the comments about the cord... Wolf found it! I can now download photos, doesn't mean I will, but I can.

I'm so excited for you all. I will definitely send prayers your way. You'll recognize them, they'll be covered with 3 feet of snow. Are you going to try for a girl at some point? Feel free to tell me to mind my own business :D How are Dragons spots?
No, we're going to try for another boy. I want to be just like you! Did you know that with every boy you have your chances of ever having a girl decrease (you've probably figured that one out yourself), my friend just had her 4th boy and she said that time round her chance of getting another boy was something like 80%. Um, yeah we are going to try for at least one more child (the goal has always been to re-assess after each one), but I am pretty much resigned to the fact that God wants me to raise brain frying, furniture destroying, dirt eating, filth loving BOYS.
Dragons spots are all gone. Thanks for asking and reminding me I needed to update people. The last flush was on Christmas day and we had our last paediatrician appointment on Tuesday (with the locum) He was happy with everything but he wants one more urine sample and then yearly followups. I'm not sure if the followups are related to the spots or if he just wants Dr J to be super busy, I have to follow up on that with Dr J.

I last posted about all the questions Lion asks, then the next day i trundled off the the kindy parent teacher interview and found out they have had to call in Pastor M to deal with one of his questions!!!!! Last week at kindy they were discussing that God made the world, and all the trees and plants, he made the animals and the people and then Miss C asked if any of the kids had a question... Of course Lion has a question!!!!!
Who made God?
Miss C said she did her best but told them that she would see if Pastor M could come in and talk to them a bit more about all those tricky questions. Not bad for a 3 year old.
The rest of the meeting went really well, Miss C was very positive about everything, although even when Miss C says something that is a negative you could be excused if you miss it mistaking it for a positive, she's just one of those teachers. Lion loves to make sure as many people as possible are involved in games or building or craft he is doing, he is compassionate and caring and kind and loving and co-operative and exuberant. He needs to work on his volume (yeah, we've noticed that one!!!) and concentration for some things. He loves movement and music and also loves to ask questions...

Questions, Questions, QUESTIONS!!!!
Lion is full of questions, the same question in 5749 different ways usually. today i got THE MOST RANDOM QUESTION EVER from him. It was while he was asking me about a man at the deli counter at Coles... is that man buying prawns why is he buying prawns what else is he buying is that his trolley WHAT COLOUR EYES DOES THAT MAN HAVE? since he hadn't been pausing for a breath i figured the answers didnt matter so i was just mumbling "I don't know" repeatedly until the eyes question. I had to get him to repeat it a few times to be sure I had heard it right and with ever more frustrated Lion repeating it slower and slower for stupid mummy I realised that I had indeed heard him right and he wanted to know the complete strangers eye colour. Well, I still dont know what colour that mans eyes were or why he was buying prawns for that matter but I now have a deeper insight into the things that are important to Lion.
