We'd all really appreciate your prayers around here. You see, there's this whopping great cyclone headed right for us. As far as cyclones go, there is nothing predictable about them so to say that it WILL hit us isn't true. But all the models they (the experts) are running are saying the same thing... This Cyclone Yasi is one of the biggest that Queensland has ever seen and it will likely be a category 4 (1 being mild 5 being completely devastating) and make landfall between Lucinda and Mackay. Now, our tiny little house with Wolf and I and our three small boys falls smack bang in between Lucinda and Mackay... Lots of people we love also live between Lucinda and Mackay. Some have houses that will fare as well or better than ours, some have houses that will turn into matchsticks with a direct hit. We are all doing what we can to be prepared, the SES is evacuating those who are in storm surge areas, people are making their homes and yards safe but there is no doubting that if Yasi hits he will cause destruction. Please pray.
For those not familiar with reading a cyclone tracking map...
The black arrows are where he's been, the grey arrows are his predicted path. The shaded grey area is his range of likely paths. The numbers in the middle of the cyclones spots are the category number (1-5) and the red circles are the different wind intensities.
Oh damn, get the feck outta there!!
ReplyDeleteWow. I can't even imagine how terrifying that must be.
ReplyDeleteKeeping everything crossed that TC Yasi changes his mind & heads back out to sea (or even better, disappears completely)
Are they suggesting people evacuate?
Just sat down to let you know that we are thinking and praying for you and your extended family and friends.
ReplyDeleteI do hope it turns into a fizzer, but on the map it looks mighty big.
