I should write a Cook Book

Yep, that's right, with the glut of celebrities cookbooks out there I think I need to write up one of my own... Especially after I found recipes like this while looking for a quick pasta sauce. Here is it so you don't have to look it up. I was stunned.

Fettuccine Alfredo:

Wow - just four ingredients in this easy pasta recipe and you'll have dinner ready on the table in about 15 minutes!

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time:
10 minutes

Ingredients:
10 oz. jar Alfredo sauce - (what the...???)
1/4 cup milk
9 oz. pkg. fresh refrigerated fettuccine pasta
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation:

In heavy saucepan, combine sauce and milk and mix well to combine. Heat gently over low heat.
Meanwhile, cook fettuccine according to package directions and drain well. Immediately stir into hot sauce mixture and toss gently to coat. Serve with Parmesan cheese. Serves 4

Well, I guess it's easy and quick, but come-on, 'Crack open a bottle of sauce and 'Bob's yer Uncle' is not what I was after in looking at recipes.

Maybe I could write a book called Wolf McTavish's '2 Ingredients'. All you need is a packet (or bottle) of CONTINENTAL meal base & either meat or noodles.

I might even add chapter in the back for advanced cooks which will have 3 ingredients, one with both meat and noodles.

  2. I was given that 4 Ingredients book for my birthday one year. I didn't much like it. I don't know if I've used it more than once in a year and a half. I felt it a bit of an insult to my cooking intelligence.
Are you sure your recipe isn't from that book? Because that's the sort of recipes it is full of. Those, and incredibly boring and bland recipes, because you can't do much else with only four ingredients.

  3. I also have the 4 ingredients book. My brother thought it was wonderful at the time but I read it and just made fun of it. Probably due to the fact that I can actually cook. The best recipe is for profiteroles. It involves buying a white wings packet mix and mixing according to the ingredients. What the????????

  4. This is so funny! Perhaps your recipe book ought to include how to make cold cereal. It could include the cereal box, milk, and sugar (depending on whether it's in the cereal or not).

  7. I saw the "4 Ingredients" recipe book just this week when out shopping! I think I'll wait and buy your Cookbook. Don't forget the chapter about how to boil water. And you could even add a page on how to turn the stove on and off - that's something my Dragon has yet to master.

  8. Mum-me: I was discussing this today over lunch with some friend, Queen Stuss included, and we decided that 'How to boil water' should be the first chapter. But now you mention it maybe I should have a prologue called An Introduction to the Kitchen where things like 'How to turn the stove on and off' would be in placed.

I am grateful to everyone who has given me all these wonderful suggestions; my cookbook is going to end up as thick as the 'Joy of Cooking'.

I'd love to hear from you, even if it's just to say "Hi, I stopped by for a read today"
