The Beauty of the Beast.

I'm not chasing confirmation that my son is a manly little spunk-rat.
I already know that.
sleeping the night away at Cousin Wilbie's party
I'm just posing a question here...
Would you ever tell someone that their SON is "so beautiful he could be a girl"?

That's what I was told on Sunday. Thankfully by someone whose opinion I do not value much at all. The good, the bad, the ugly, I take it all with a grain of salt. But seriously, "so beautiful he could be a girl"?
At what point did that seem like an intelligent thing to say?
Now, after this I hope you all answered "no" when I asked the first question or I'm lookin' like a dill.
I will add - I don't have a problem with my babies being called "beautiful", I do that myself... I just think this is a bit different... don't you?

  1. Oh my the things people say. Sometimes you just wonder where the filter is if any exist. All your boys are going to break the girls hearts in no time. Such handsome little guys.

  2. Hmmm, that's um, a new one. I always wonder when I call a little boy beautiful if that's acceptable, or if I should think of something more "manly" to describe just how handsome the little guy is, but I don't think I've ever heard that one before. I would be torn between feeling complimented and offended. Who wants their son to look like a girl? My mother in law is great for lines like that...she once went up to a woman at a wedding and said "you look like someone I know, only uglier". How's that for a winner?! Yeah, some people just don't have a filter...or maybe a brain. Love the new picture of monkey...he's looking much more comfortable and content these days, hopefully that medicine is helping.

  3. Hmmm, sometimes the mouth engages before the brain. But it raises an interesting question. Why can't boy babies be beautiful? And why can't they be more beautiful than girl babies? Cause that's what I think she's saying, that he is very beautiful. Anyway, all babies are beautiful - and yours are even more so.

  4. I agree with Sandra. The mouth spoke before the brain was engaged. I do believe ALL babies are beautiful but to say that he is so beautiful he could be a girl??? thats a bit weird..my boy babies were just as beautiful as my girl babies but I would never say they could have been girls..and no you dont look like a dill..lol

P.S anytime you are down Wollongong way you and your beautiful BOYS are welcome to come for dinner..

  5. He is definitely a beautiful baby but there isn't anything girlie looking about Monkey. I am sure he will be as 'all boy' as your other two (other than Dragon with his hand bag festish).

Love you little man Monkey!!! Hope you are more settled now than you were this morning.

  6. Does your 'foot-in-mouth' friend read your blog? That would certainly send a message to him/her. All of my grandsons are BEAUTIFUL, but they are not girlishly pretty or anything approaching it.

  7. Wow.

I guess it could be a compliment, but it is a weird one, that's for sure.

  8. You could dress Monkey in a pink frilly dress & he still wouldn't look like a girl baby. He is definitely beautiful but definitely not girly.

  9. I laughed when I read that because someone actually said something similar when Jonathan was born! I know. . . seriously...what a weird thing to say.

However, I can really hear myself saying that. Because I am that weird. And I always stick my foot way down my throat.

  10. I'm not sure what that means, especially when they're so little. He's definitely beautiful but in a sweet little baby, gender neutral sort of way.

My son is older with long luscious eye lashes, and a shaggy haircut. At the grocery store the cashiers usually refer to him as a "she" or "her" which is completely different I guess from what you were referring to...

Ever lose your train of thought with no hope to return whatsoever.

    Me neither.

  11. Ahh, he's all man. What a dumb comment.

He's growing to fast. He's supposed to stay little until I can save up enough money to come to Australia and love on him in like 5 years or so...If I'm lucky.

Thanks for the comments. I can't wait to get caught up on all my favorite blogs.

  12. Oh gosh, I got the same the other day about Little Man C - off course the straight blond hair and blue eyes. And I was also upset - heavens, a boy can be great looking too. And my boy (and yours) is a very boyish boy. So what the hec? What about Brad! Should he be a girl?

  13. Out of my mouth pop the most surprising things! Truly, sometimes my brain didn't even have time to register it before it came out the shoot. So... I will not make any comments except to say that my firstborn son was so beautiful that everyone said he was an angel. Too bad he didn't behave like one till he turned 25! (Just kidding, Noah.)

  14. That's about as frustrating as "It's a shame" when I would tell people the babies were going to be boys! Cherubic? An adorable little pumking? A real cutie patootie? Angelic, just like Michael the Archangel? Maybe even, now I'm going out on a limb here, maybe The John Wayne of babies? A handsome baby Casanova? Anything but pretty enough to be a girl (which is probably how it sounded).

  15. Strange kind of compliment - beautiful yes, but who says baby girls are more beautiful than baby boys?

  16. Definitely weird! He a beautiful, handsome, little man though! :)

I'd love to hear from you, even if it's just to say "Hi, I stopped by for a read today"
