Bin there, done that.

I've heard horror stories of wallets containing the months rent money or grocery money being thrown in the bin by babies.  Little ones systematically losing their bottles only for mum to find out they have been throwing them out after they finish because that's what they see the grown-ups doing.  toys, mobile phones, cutlery, cloth nappies, it's all been thrown in the bin by a baby somewhere... but not in this house.

We've been pretty lucky to escape the crazy stage that is learning about the bin (or throwing everything in the toilet for that matter!) but all good things must come to an end.  Although, it's not throwing good stuff in the bin that is our problem... it's REMOVING genuine rubbish from the bin that is the current crisis.  It's not the baby that's doing it either... but I am guessing he'd love nothing more than to roll around in dinner scraps and other disgusting stuff... it's Dragon!

Dragon has realised that you can find out what Mummy and Daddy are up to after you go to bed or sneakily doing while you are outside or watching TV just by raiding the rubbish bin!  YUCK!  This mornings revelation was enough to break his little heart!  He was rooting around in the rubbish like a stray dog and he saw the Cadbury Mini Eggs packet... and it was EMPTY!  He turns to me with his heart on his sleeve, and it was as if I was watching it get torn to pieces and stomped on and kicked over and over as he says "M-m-mummy... did you eat these after I went to b-b-b-bed?"

Big smile on Mummy's face... "yep, I sure did. You have plenty of eggs in your Easter basket, those were MINE".

After all, I was heartless enough to eat them, if I apologise for it then he's likely to expect me to actually save him some next time!

Monkey has woken up HAPPY!  No temperature, and it's been over 10 hours since his last dose of Dymadon.  We did a happy dance together and cuddled and cuddled and cuddled!  This yuckiness started Sunday evening and he has been dealing with a high temp and the grumps since then... it's now Friday morning... that was just tooooo long!

Monkey looks in disbelief at all the sand... "OH NO, don't let mummy see all that sand on the floor, she'll freak!"

  1. What a cute photo of little Monkey. Cute caption too! Glad he's feeling better.

It was our Dragon who used to throw things in the bin - but in his defense it was a new bin that had a fancy lid. When you pressed the button the lid would flip up. He once threw my wallet in the bin, but luckily I found it before garbage day.

And it's Teddy who is fascinated with rubbish. Not the stuff in our bins, though, but the stuff other people leave laying around at the park, the beach, the shops etc.... I am forever telling her to stop collecting other peoples' rubbish.

  2. That so sounds like something Jonathan would do...going through the trash to find out what mommy was doing after he went to bed! (if he would ever go to bed! argh!)

    Monkey...what a cutie-pie!

  4. Wow, what a long week. Good thing you had those cadbury eggs. I love the mini's.

Monkey, so nice of him to worry about the SAND! He is such a cutie.

I long for sleep, for you. I am doing better in that department.

  6. At least he's not following it up by rinsing his hands in the toilet...been there. And by all means, eat the chocolate, mom's are entitled to a percentage of all holiday-related-candy-spoils. Easter, Christmas, Halloween, it's just a little compensation for the work we do. ;)

  7. I am glad Monkey is feeling better! That is way too long... for baby AND mommy!

Dimples once threw away Nurse Boy's wedding ring. It was a MIRACLE that I even thought to look in the bottom of the kitchen trash!

Sigh... kids and I trash! I just don't get it!

  8. I have at last convinced girl child to leave the rubbish alone, but now she is into my bedside table drawers - had to remove many a strange things from there.

  9. Your blog always makes me laugh. The smile on my face stays there for a long time after reading it. Thank you. Laughter is good medicine, and you are funny.

You mentioned Dragon raiding the bin. Book lover that I am - of all age ranges - I just read a series of Junior spy books. The one I just sadly finished (wish it could have gone on and on... I liked the mental holiday when reading it) talked about finding everything you ever wanted to know about someone by nabbing their trash and going through it.

Watch out... Dragon just might be the next 007! :) At least he'll keep you safe!

I'd love to hear from you, even if it's just to say "Hi, I stopped by for a read today"
